What are we doing in your class? We’re making a Cosmic Smashbook, silly! I’ll guide you through the process to transform an ordinary old notebook into your own one-of-a-kind Cosmic Smashbook.

I'm offering a live online Smashbook class on August 27. The photo shows three Cosmic Smashbook art journals.

Why would I want to go to a live online Smashbook class?

Well, because it’s fun! Because you have been wanting to make art for a long time. Here’s your chance to give it a try in a low-key, dip-your-toes in kind of way.

Or maybe it’s because you love Cosmic Smashbooking. (Yeah!) Now your Smashbook is filled up and it would be fun to make a new one in a community of awesome people.

Also because the Friday Night Smash-Alongs start on September 4 and you want a sparkly new book for it!

What supplies do I need?

black and white composition notebooks

An art journal — I use these old-school black and white composition notebooks. They are super-cheap right now with back-to-school sales.

You will also need a few more inexpensive art supplies.

  • Paper grocery bag for the cover. Really any paper large enough to cover your book will do.
  • Pen or pencil
  • A few colors of paint you like. Those little bottles of craft paint are perfect for this. Pick 2 or 3 (or more!) colors for your cover.
  • Something to spread the paint. Yeah, you could use a paintbrush. I’m going to show you how to use a small scrap of cardboard because I like the effect.
  • Glue stick. Definitely need a glue stick!
  • Any ribbons, sparkles or embellishments you want to add to your book. Don’t stress out if you don’t have these. You can participate fully in the class and add these later.
  • Here’s a list of other Cosmic Smashbook supplies I like.

Other questions you may have

Will the class be recorded? No. I do not record my live classes. You have to be there live to participate.

If I sign up and then something comes up, can I get a refund? No. There are no refunds for this class.

How do I sign up again? Here’s the link to sign up for the live online Smashbook class on Thursday, August 27.

Tell me more about Friday Night Smash-Alongs: I’m so glad you asked! Friday Night Smash-Alongs are free online event. We meet up Friday nights and create a Cosmic Smashbook page together. They start on Sepetember 4. The only way to join is to subscribe to my newsletter.

Do I have to take pay for your live online Smashbook class in order to join the free Friday Night Smash-Alongs? No. There is no pre-requisite for joining us on Friday nights. The class on August 27 is just a bonus for people who want to make a new Cosmic Smashbook. You can come any Friday starting on September 4. No artistic talent or prior Cosmic Smashbooking experience necessary. But you do have to subscribe to my newsletter for the invite.

Other Cosmic Smashbooking Opportunities

I live near Fairfax County, Virginia and I would love to take a live, in-person class with you. Yay! I would love to see you. I’m teaching two Cosmic Smashbook Art Journal classes starting in September at the Audrey Moore Rec Center in Annandale. Here’s the link to Parktakes to sign up.

Please note: the Parktakes website can be weird. If my classes don’t pop up, search for Art Journal.

Am I going to enjoy this?

I sure hope so!

But hey, only you can answer that question. Why not give it a try? It’s pretty low risk.

One evening, $10, a handful of inexpensive art supplies. Who knows? This might be just the thing to re-light that creative spark inside of you.
